CALL TO ACTION FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 2011!!!
CAN'T COME TO WASHINGTON FOR THE LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE?
YOU CAN STILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16 AND EXPRESS TO THEM THE IMPORTANCE OF A HOUSING RECOVERY IN ORDER FOR THE NATIONAL ECONOMY TO MOVE FORWARD!
On Wednesday, March 16, 2011, many of you will come to Washington, DC, for the 2011 Legislative Conference to meet with your federal legislators on Capitol Hill. For those of you who cannot make the trip to Washington, we still need your help to magnify the message your fellow builders will deliver next week. Please call your federal lawmakers on Wednesday with a simple message: the fledgling economic recovery will continue to struggle unless legislators address the housing sector.
In order for the housing industry to fully recover from its woes and become the preeminent economic engine it once was, Congress needs to act. One of the major problems facing the industry today is the lack of credit for AD&C loans. Without liquidity in the AD&C loan market, the industry will remain stagnant. Another problem is the threat of changing and/or eliminating housing tax incentives. Changes to tax preferences, such as the Mortgage Interest Deduction (MID) or Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), will amount to nothing more than a tax increase on young home buyers, retirees, and renters. Finally, the presence of a viable secondary mortgage market backed by the federal government is integral for the housing industry to regain its footing.

It is imperative that you place your call on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, so we can deliver a powerful, unified message to Capitol Hill.
